 ILLUMINATING AND PROTECTIVE ACTIVE AGENT FOR SKIN AND MIND (TRIHEPTANOIN, LAVANDULA HYBRIDA EXTRACT, IMMUNIGHT®)

This active is in line with trends in immunocosmetics and beauty sleep, acting with two complementary pathways; on the one hand it improves night-time skin recovery, on the other hand it optimises the skin’s defence system. This lavender extract is obtained through a patented process using solvents in line with the principles of green chemistry, and contains a unique blend of olfactory molecules that provide a dual action. Sleep is one of the most important secrets of beauty and well-being as it is vital for mental and physical health. Controlled by the brain’s circadian rhythm and melatonin production, sleep allows the mind and body to rest by triggering specific biological processes. Furthermore, the skin has its own rhythmicity due to the gene expression of the cellular clock and its production of melatonin. When sleep is disturbed, the skin’s circadian rhythm is disrupted, which affects the skin’s nocturnal recharging of immunity, leading to skin fatigue. This active was created in response to the holistic trend whereby a beauty sleep can restore health to the skin. Based on tea tree essential oil, this active acts in two complementary ways – olfactory and topical – to improve sleep and restore a regenerated and revitalised-looking skin. The raw material is an extract obtained by upcycling oil-soluble by-products from the distillation of the Australian tea tree; it contains a mixture of odorous molecules with unique properties. Rest is one of the most important secrets of beauty and well-being as it is vital for mental and physical health. During sleep, specific biological processes trigger the regeneration process so that the mind can rest while the body and skin regenerate. BETAINA (BETAINE)

A molecule (trimethylglycine) that is extremely simple,natural and found in many plant sources such as chard or beetroot. It is a substance that is useful in nature for protecting plant cells. Applied to the skin, it has extraordinary moisturising properties comparable to glycerine. In cleansing formulations, it diminishes the irritating power of surfactants. Furthermore, due to the presence of numerous methyl groups, this active increases cell turnover in the stratum corneum, renewing the skin and bringing greater freshness to

sensitive skin.

KARITE BUTTER (BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII BUTTER )

Obtained from the seed of the Shea tree, a plant native to Africa, it is a highly emollient fatty substance. The use of Shea butter in cosmetics is due to its healing, emollient, elasticising, moisturising, antioxidant, soothing, filming and protective properties; but its exclusive characteristic is its very high content of unsaponifiables (12-18%), indispensable substances for improving skin tone and elasticity. Another of the butter’s merits is its good filtering capacity against the sun’s rays, making it an excellent protector and preventative of skin damage caused by exposure to

light, such as the formation of free radicals and the premature appearance of wrinkles, as well as damage caused by excessive exposure to the sun. It is also rich in vitamins A. B, E, F. It is used against dehydration and desquamation of the skin, in hair care and as protection from the sun’s rays. It also has regenerative activity and is considered an excellent anti-ageing active ingredient.

REFINED SUNFLOWER OIL (HELIANTHUS ANNUUS SEED OIL)

Sunflower oil is particularly rich in oleic acid (32%) and linoleic acid, but also in lecithins and proteins. It is an excellent emollient and nutrient. Research in the world

of emollients has shown that certain substances are particularly suited to stimulate the endogenous synthesis of lipids lacking in the protective hydrolipid barrier, thus enabling in-depth restructuring of the barrier itself. One of these is sunflower oleo-distillate. A clinical trial illustrated how topical application of sunflower oil prevents bacterial infections in prematurely born infants.

SWEET ALMOND OIL ( PRUNUS AMYGDALUS DULCIS OIL)

It is obtained by cold-pressing sweet almonds. It offers excellent emollient and nourishing opportunities for the skin. It is used in pharmaceutical cosmetics on all

irritated, particularly delicate or reddened skin because it also has soothing and calming properties. It is one of the oils that contains the highest percentage of unsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, both of which have special eudermic properties. As mentioned, sweet almond oil has always been known and appreciated for its emollient, softening, nourishing and soothing properties and for being well-tolerated even by the most sensitive skins, such as those of children, and for this reason it has been used in cosmetics for centuries. Easily absorbed and weather-resistant, almond oil is rich in vitamins E, B, proteins,

carbohydrates and mineral salts and is therefore excellent for combating skin ageing and contributing to its renewal. Sweet almond oil has various applications, including gastronomic ones, but it is mainly used to treat dry and reddened skin on the body and face and to care for tired and brittle hair.

VITAMIN E (TOCOPHERYL ACETATE)

Used in its most stable form over time, i.e. as Tocopherol acetate, it promotes skin absorption, is an excellent natural antioxidant and its most proven action in tissues is the prevention or slowing down of lipoperoxide formation from lipids present. This becomes a support in the treatment of mature and inelastic skin, reconstituting the skin’s natural lipid film.
